Design a Bookmark for the Library Contest

Calling all artists!  

You are invited to submit a design for a library bookmark. We use a bookmark to hold our spot when we are reading.  This is a super way to care for our books.  

You can pick up the blank paper at the library.  The contest ends Friday, September 2.  Please write your name and class on the back of your bookmark before handing it into the library.

The winning designs will be printed for use in the library.

Picture Books by Kids for Kids!

We are excited to add to our library collection stories written by our Middle School students.  In a wonderful collaboration, the creative writing class and the art class got together to produce several picture books.  

This last week of school, our Grade 1, 2 and 3 classes were treated to "author visits".  The Middle School students came and shared their stories with us.  Everyone was very positive and enthusiastic about the experience.  The students cannot wait to check them out from the library in August.

Our Top Ten Reasons to Read

If you were asked about your top ten reasons to read, what would you say?  For recreation? For information? To fuel your imagination?  To explore other cultures across time and space?

Our students took time to have philosophical discussions about the role of reading in their lives.  It was illuminating!
