The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach

The first picture book nominated for this year's Morning Calm Medal is The Bear Ate Your Sandwich written by Julia Sarcone-Roach.
"By now I think you know what happened to your sandwich.
But you may not know how it happened.
So let me tell you.
It all started with the bear . . .

So begins Julia Sarcone-Roach’s delicious tale of a bear, lost in the city, who happens upon an unattended sandwich in the park. The bear’s journey from forest to city and back home again is full of happy accidents, funny encounters, and sensory delights. The story is so engrossing, it’s not until the very end that we begin to suspect this is a TALL tale."                                                                                                           - Amazon review

Now that was a fun day...

Thank you to everyone who joined in celebrating Roald Dahl's birthday.  The mood was bright and cheery as you can see from the photos below.

Dahl's stories and poems were shared. Every Roald Dahl book and DVD the library owns was checked out.  There were even golden tickets to be found!

Happy Birthday, Roald Dahl!

On Tuesday, September 13th, people all over the world are celebrating 100 years of Roald Dahl.
To help celebrate, we are having a yellow colour day.  All students and teachers are invited to come to school wearing Roald Dahl's favourite colour... yellow.

As well, we encourage everyone to have fun exploring The Official Roald Dahl Website.  There you will find photos, book descriptions, and character sketches as well as video and sound clips and a virtual tour of the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre.

You can learn from the master storyteller himself about the craft of writing at
